TEAM SAN MANUEL YAMAHA'S RACE REPORT IS HERE!

ROUND 16-RICE-ECCLES STADIUM-SALT LAKE CITY-APRIL 25TH

LOS ANGELES, CA (April 27, 2009) - Team San Manuel Yamaha's James Stewart extended his championship points lead to 6 Saturday night at the 16th stop of the 2009 Monster Energy AMA Supercross series, an FIM World Championship.

Stewart improved his Heat Race win record to 15 of the 16 Heat races this season, taking the win in Heat Race 2, for a direct transfer to the Main. In addition, he has consistently posted the fastest qualifying times of the 2009 season, setting the evening's pace with a 52.447 lap time. Starting the evening strong, Teammate Kyle Chisholm ran Heat Race 2, finishing 5th for a direct transfer to the main, his 12th of his rookie season. Chisholm started the main strong but was given a black flag and asked to leave to track for what the FIM later ruled was "affecting another racer's progress".





Main event action had Stewart behind the lead out of the gate but he quickly made it into 2nd midway through the 1st lap. On lap 9, Stewart exchanged the lead with the race leader and then settled back into a comfortable 2nd place position. On lap 12, Stewart made his move again and with tremendous speed took command of the lead staying out front for the remaining 8 laps. Before enthusiastic Utah crowds numbering more than 41,000, Stewart took the checkered flag with a 3.7 second lead marking his 11th win of the 2009 season.

Post-race James had this to say, "It feels great to get the win tonight! Still going to be working hard this whole week getting ready for Vegas but tonight I got that San Manuel Yamaha out front and that's what mattered."
