FLY Girls Sweep Loretta Lynn’s Amateur National!
Our girls were ‘FLY’ing at the Ranch, taking the top two steps of the podium in every ladies class. Girls 9-11 speedster Jazzmyn Canfield from Deltona, Florida put in another dominating display to go with last years 1-1-1 championship run. She repeated the performance this year with another 1-1-1 going undefeated for two straight years. Second place finisher was another FLY girl, Clayton, North Carolina’s Jordan Jarvis. JJ went 2-2-2 for the week.

The girls 12-15 brought some of the most intense racing of the week with three riders vying for the top step of the podium. Going into the 3rd and final moto it was a log jam at the top with FLY riders Brandy Richards and Kaitlyn Morrow tied and Suzuki rider Hannah Hodges 1 point out of the mix in 3rd. When the checkers flew, of the winner take all battle, it was Lake Havasu, Arizona’s Brandy Richards 1st and Houston, Texas’ Kaitlyn Morrow 2nd.

The Women’s +14 class was another barn burner Brandy Richards was trying to make it into the Loretta Lynn’s record book by being the first female to win the Girls 12-15 and Women’s +14 in the same year. After the first moto it looked like her chance to pull off this feat was within her reach. Moto 1 was a great moto for our Fly riders, with Brandy Richards coming in 1st, Taylor Higgins 2nd, Mackenzie Tricker 3rd and Brinsley Dyess 4th.
The second moto started off the same, as Brandy was out front and checking out when one of those Loretta gremlins got her. She hit a hole and over the bars she went, she got up to salvage 12th, but her double title chances were dashed. At the checkers it was Fly’s Mackenzie Tricker 1st and Taylor Higgins 2nd. Going into the 3rd and final moto tied it was a battle between the two Fly girls; whoever had the better finish would take home the title.
At the start of the 3rd moto it was Brandy Richards with the holeshot, she was going to do her best to put her own mark on the class. Tricker was 2nd and Higgins was back in the pack. This time the gremlin took down Tricker, knocking her back to Higgins who was making her way up through the pack. Now the race was on! The two of them battled for the remainder of the moto, freight training through the pack, and at the checkers it was Richards 1st, Higgins 2nd and Tricker 3rd. In the end the Championship went to Higgins, with second place going to Tricker.
