PRODUCT REVIEW: RISK RACING RR-1 LIFT STAND: WE LOVE IT!

Product Review: Risk Racing RR-1 Lift Stand
While attending The Indianapolis Dealer Expo this year, we stumbled across the RISK RACING booth, where we noticed a product we had seen once or twice before in the MX magazines. It was a "lift stand" that seemed to use the weight of the bike and leverage to just about put itself up in the air!
After a quick demo and chat with the Risk Racing folks, we were begging to test one out. Not only did it look good, it worked even better. We wanted to see if it would keep working and how well it would hold up to the abuse our readers would put it through.
Our stand arrived safe and sound, packed well and some simple instructions were included. As no assembly was required, we just threw the directions aside and brought the stand into the workshop. It seemed a lot lighter than it looked in the ads. That was one of our concerns, it looked heavy but it turns out it folds flat and only weighs about 20 pounds so that was no issue.
We are always beat after a hard practice or moto, and the RR-1 addresses this by being the easiest stand we have ever used to put up the bike on after a moto. No lifting, no leveraging up on the knee, just ride on, step off. This was a godsend after a hard days riding. It's actually fun!
We drove our bike right up on it, until the front tire "bottomed out" against the front, and the bottom of the stand met the frame rails of our CRF250. Then as we got off the bike, we depressed the lever, lifting the bike up almost effortlessly. We left the bike there and used the locking pin to make sure the bike could not be brought down accidentally by someone kicking the release lever. There is a lot of traffic in and out of our shop.
When it was time to go, we simply removed the pin, kicked the release lever with the back of our boot, and the bike comes rides right off. Simple. Safe. Secure. We think it's a home run.
Next, we folded it flat and put the locking pin back in. Now it was time to go to the track. It was pretty light and because it folded flat, we actually had more room left over in the back of the pickup than using out old static stand. We put our gear bag right on top of it to one side of the bike. After arriving at the track, we whipped out the stand and removed the locking pin and drove the bike right up on it again. It was a nice way to showcase our bike and more than a few riders commented on "that cool stand" that we had brought.
The fact that the Risk Racing RR-1 stand has nice diamond plate and a solid steel construction was not only comforting in terms of how much abuse the thing would take, but a side benefit was that it acted as a very nice presentation and work stand while we were out racing.
We've had the stand for over three months and we love it. It doesn't always come to the track with us, as can be a bit bigger that a folding stand or some of the lift stands, but it was more secure than those so as long as there was room, we took it along.
