In pit bikes the name of the game is "Horsepower".

So, naturally the first upgrade for my almost bone stock 05' CRF50 was a new engine. I had evaluated other options like a big bore kit using the existing stock engine, but the Stage 1 motor from AHP Minis, was best suited for my budget.

The Stage 1 motor is a 100cc rocket. It comes complete with a ported and polished race head with polished valves that flows 250cfm over the stock 190cfm. The head features 23mm intake & 20mm exhaust valves. The lower end is equipped with a set of hardened shift forks, shift shaft, and gears.

Also included is a 20mm carb setup, throttle cable, clutch cable, kick starter, folding shift lever, Pod air filter, AHP Carbon fiber Ignition cover, AHP billet clutch cover, and an AHP cam cover in the color of your choice. Every thing you need is included.

Installation: Installation is pretty straight forward. Instructions are included if needed. If any issues arrive, Mark at AHP Minis offers awesome customer support. Setup: The engine was almost ready to run out of the box. The first adjustment I made was to the clutch, it required fine tuning behind the cam cover. The second was simply jetting.

First impressions: This thing is fast and loud. Even with the stock pipe it was noticeably louder than the stock engine.

Testing: After pounding laps every day for weeks, I was able to get the feel of this motor. I found 1st gear almost useless; even starts I opted to use second gear. The motor was astounding compared to stock. With the manual clutch I was able to get the power to the ground as needed.

In conclusion, this is a great motor, especially for the price tag. It's great for play bikes, but still has the potential to be modified further for the serious racer.
