OCTOBER 9 ISSUE OF ESPN THE MAGAZINE FEATURES FIVE-PAGE STORY ON EVENT
Morgantown, WV - ESPN the Magazine, the popular main-stream sports publication, has placed a five-page feature on the Air Nautiques AMA Amateur Nationals at Loretta Lynn's presented by Amsoil into their latest issue. The issue is dated October 9 and features New York Mets shortstop Jose Reyes on the cover.
The story, called "Where Dreams go Braaap", is written by Chris Palmer. It explains the event by tracking three riders at different stages of their racing careers through the week. The riders are Colorado's Eli Tomac in the 85cc (12-13) class, Maryland's Tyler Knowlton in the 250 C class, and Michigan's Sarah Whitmore in the Women's class. The story includes full-color photos by Alex Tehrani.
This article marks the first time the Air Nautique/AMA Nationals from Loretta Lynn's event have ever been featured in the Magazine.
The Air Nautiques/AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships at Loretta Lynn's is the world's most prestigious amateur motocross race. This year, over 23,000 entries attempted to qualify in 33 classes for the event, which ran from July 31st through August 5th. As proof of the importance of winning an AMA Amateur National Championship, most of today's top motocross and supercross racers, including Ricky Carmichael and James Stewart, won championships at Loretta Lynn's before turning pro.
